This section explores packaging performance requirements. Packaging steels are able to handle expansion and contraction, be strong and flexible and have specific performance capabilities. These attributes are suited for high scale, high speed industrial production of can and filling of food, aerosol and beverages cans. Canned food is mostly packed close to the local source at its highest nutritional value, because of its excellent preservation capabilities canned food often has a much higher nutritional value than fresh food. Fresh food is often picked, transported, auctioned, transported packaged and then distributed to the supply chain to end up with the consumer in some instances when it is past it nutritional peak.
