Formability is an important property for strip steels used for beverage cans, automotive panels, domestic appliance casings, etc.
Unfortunately, "formability" cannot be simply defined using a single material property, but is dependent on the particular forming process (e.g. deep-drawing, stretch forming, etc.) and on the sheet thickness.
In this section we will compare deep drawing and stretch forming processes. The use of Circle Grid Analysis to create Forming Limit Diagrams is then described.
