Bergsman UK is an advisory service specialising in engineering steel applications and technical production problems. In addition, alternative steels are suggested where the steel specified may be unavailable or obsolete. This service is provided by Mr Graham Haywood F.I.M.M.M., C.Eng, who has been involved in research, metallurgical investigation and production for the last 50 years. In 2000 he was invited to be a Fellow of the Institute following involvement in a series of lectures at technical conferences in the United Kingdom.
Graham Haywood is a Chartered Engineer who began his metallurgical career in 1956 and has been a practising member of the Institution of Metallurgists (now Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining) since 1961. His career has taken him into visiting more than 5000 companies involving general, automotive and aerospace industries; in this time he worked in steelmaking (also vacuum) rolling, forging, wire manufacture, heat treatment, advanced machining steels and has experience in many ancilliary metallurgical treatments.
